Pigment Application Products

Pigments need to be bound to become a paint. For this they are mixed with a binder. The binders' functions are to lock the pigment particles into a protective film, act as an adhesive by attaching the colours to the ground and to create an optical effect by bringing out the depth and tone of the pigment.
Langridge has developed a range of Paint Binders to allow artists to easily and effeciently master the preparation of their own colours. They include stabilisers and preservatives for maximum durability and performance.

 

Pigment Introduction Set
For artists who wish to experiment with a range of colours. Beautifully presented box set of 12 x 15ml artists pigment.
All colours are non-toxic and include primaries as well as traditional earths. Excellent introduction to pigments.

 

Oil Paint Binding Medium
Specifically prepared binding medium for the preparation of artists’ oil colours. Made with linseed oil, wax stabiliser and driers for optimum effeciency when grinding.
Ready to use, add to pigment and mill until the desired paint consistency is obtained.

 

Watercolour Binding Medium
Prepared binding medium for the preparation of gouache and watercolours. Made with gum arabic, honey, wetting agents and preservative for optimum effeciency when grinding. Makes watercolours with a smooth brilliant quality that enhances the radiance of the pigment.

 

Acrylic Paint Binding Medium
Prepared binding medium made with pure acrylic resin, stabilisers, wetting agents and preservative allowing easy nanufacture of acrylic paint. Ready to use, mix pigment and binder with palette knife until the desired paint consistency is obtained.

 

Pastel Binding Medium
Specially prepared binding medium for the making of soft pastels. Contains Gum Tragacanth and preservative.
Ready to use, add to pigment and chalk. Mix together for the manufacture of beautifully coloured and sized pastels.

 

Glass Muller
Handmade glass muller for the manufacture of artists paint. Etched face for high-shear grinding of pigment with binder.
